Rainy Day Activities for Dogs and Cats
When the Weather Says "Stay Home"
Tum stares at us with betrayed eyes when it rains. Tin doesn't care โ she was already indoor royalty. Either way, rainy days need a plan.
For Dogs
Indoor fetch: Use a soft ball in a hallway. Not ideal, but it works.
Tug of war: Great physical exercise. Let them win sometimes โ it builds confidence.
Training session: Teach a new trick. "Spin," "shake," or "play dead" are crowd-pleasers. Short sessions (5-10 minutes) with lots of treats.
Staircase workout: If you have stairs, toss a toy up and let them retrieve it. Instant cardio.
Snuffle mat: Hide treats in a textured mat. 15 minutes of sniffing = equivalent of a 30-minute walk for mental exhaustion.
For Cats
Box tunnels: Connect boxes with cut holes. Add crinkle paper inside.
Laser pointer session: 10 minutes of chasing that red dot. Always end with a physical toy catch โ don't leave them frustrated.
Paper ball hockey: Crumple up paper and flick it across the floor. Tin goes absolutely wild.
Cat TV: YouTube bird and squirrel videos. Tin watches these for hours.
For Both
Treat treasure hunt: Hide treats around the house. Start easy (visible), then increase difficulty. Both dogs and cats enjoy the search.
Rain or shine, your pets need activity. Dogs Love Cat has the indoor toys to make every day an adventure.
