Seasonal Pet Care: Keeping Your Pets Safe Year-Round
Every Season Has Its Hazards
Tum and Tin experience the seasons differently than we do. Here's how to keep your pets safe and comfortable all year.
Spring
- Allergies: Dogs get seasonal allergies too — watch for excessive scratching, red eyes, or sneezing
- Ticks and fleas: Start prevention early, before the first warm days
- Toxic plants: Lilies (deadly to cats), tulips, daffodils — keep them out of reach
Summer
- Heatstroke: Never leave pets in cars. Even 70°F outside = 100°F+ inside a car in 20 minutes
- Hot pavement: Palm test before walks. Consider dog booties
- Hydration: Carry a portable water bottle on every walk
Fall
- Mushrooms: Wild mushrooms in yards can be toxic. Remove immediately
- Rodent poison: Pest control season means more toxins around. Keep pets away from bait stations
- Shorter days: Switch to reflective gear for evening walks
Winter
- Antifreeze: Smells sweet, tastes sweet, and is deadly. Clean spills immediately
- Salt and de-icers: Irritate paws — wash feet after walks or use paw wax
- Hypothermia: Short-haired breeds need jackets. If you're cold, they're cold
Whatever the season, Dogs Love Cat has the gear to keep your pets safe. Because Tum and Tin don't check the weather forecast — that's our job.
